EXIT Realty Sioux Empire, Smoke Detector and CO2 Detector tips for safety.

In the Real Estate Business we encourage you to protect your assets.   One of the largest assets most of us have is our home.  An inexpensive way to protect not only our home but the loved ones that live inside is to install smoke detectors and carbon monoxide (CO2) detectors.  I purchased new CO2 detectors last week at Sioux Falls Menards store and they had many on sale.  I chose the one that was just CO2 for $11.99 as I had smoke detectors already, but they had some that did both, and even one that would speak and tell you which alarm was going off.  The bad part is I never installed them.  Well Wednesday I got out the drill, pencil and a sharpie and got them in.  I feel better, safer, and a little bit accomplished.

One of the tools I mentioned that you may be asking yourself is, a sharpie??  Yes, the small permanent marker.  I wrote the date on the batteries so that I know when they were installed.  A small tip that we used when I worked in the hotel business is to use a new battery each year, at the end of the year there maybe some life in that battery.  You can use it for things like remote control or back up in the alarm clock.

So there you have it.  A simple thing to do that will make you feel safe, and a little accomplished.  This weekend is a good time to do it, what is more important than keeping your family and your home safe?  And it only takes a few minuets.
